| Kevin B.'s Eagle Project took place at the Old West Farms Cemetery, where there are graves for veterans from the War Of 1812, the Civil War, The Spanish American War, on through World War One. The day began with the color guard raising the new American, and POW flags, that were donated by the Parks Department. The Scouts were then separated into groups. One group was given one-piece suits to protect their cloths, and painted a fence. Another group dug holes and planted flower bulbs. Some Scouts removed twigs and branches and brought them to the chipper, and others took to the task of clipping thick weeds and vines that were wrapped around the iron fence. Many helped bag leaves. There were about forty bags of leaves! The final tasks the Scouts helped with were repairing the outside fence and inserting paving blocks. Kevin B.'s Eagle Project was a great success. A party hero, pizza, snacks, hot chocolate, and beverages were served to all. Adults received their much needed coffee too. -- James N., Troop Scribe. |
