| Troop 240's summer camp event at TMR was a lot of fun, as well as a productive one for our Scouts as 41 merit badges were earned, there were many partial merit badges, and there were seven rank advancements. Some of the highlights of the week were the five mile orienteering hike, rappelling at Indian Cliffs, our traditional campfire program and pizza party, and TMR's closing campfire which was followed by a slide show of the week's activities. Troop 240 was featured prominently in about one third of the slides! We received the Baden-Powell award as well as Honor Patrol awards for all three Patrols there. We also enjoyed the spectacular cooking of the boys, including the wonderful gourmet cooking of Edna Acquafredda, and Ed Lowe. It was especially meaningful to be present at camp for TMR's 80th anniversary, which was July 14th. Troop 240 has also started some traditions that Camp Aquehonga is going to adopt. One is a camp wide cook-off, the second is a pioneering camp gadget competition, and the third is an "invite another Troop to your camp fire" to promote the brotherhood of Scouting. Best in the East, best in the West, best in camp. -- Mary Ellen Willen, Membership Chair |
