Troop 240, Bronx, N.Y. 2006-07 Scouting Year Summary "The Eagle's Nest" |

It was another banner year for Troop 240. The season started out with our Scout's featured gourmet campfire cooking at the GNYC Steak Out, followed by our annual picnic. We had a very successful Open House, with many new boys joining our Troop. We also had several new OA members and two Scouters -- Dino Forzano and Mary Ellen Willen -- who started their Wood Badges. Some of our fun trips included the Big Apple Circus, a canoe trip through the New Jersey Pine Barrens, and sailing on the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. The Wintoree was great fun and many merit badges were earned. The International Dinner was delicious as always. The boys showed great Scout Spirit during the annual Bowling Tournament and the Troop Mobilization. Our Cookoff was almost too close to call as Troop 240 had many accomplished campfire cooks this year. Our two newest Eagle Scouts -- Kevin B. and Martin Boyle -- were honored and awarded at our annual Dinner; always a gala event. A major highlight of the year were the many hikes that members of the Troop completed under the expert tutelage of our Hike Guide, Ellen Beltran. (She completed 90 miles of hikes so that many of our boys could earn their Hiking Merit Badges.) T240 ended the season with several Scouts going to NYJLT and most of the Troop attending summer camp at Camp Aquehonga (Ten Mile River). All in all, it was another fun and productive year for Troop.
