Until We Meet Again ...

To our Troop 240 Family,

Our Troop has suffered a terrible loss with the passing of John. John, who was a Scout himself, was a man who strongly believed in the Scouting program, and the virtues it teaches. John truly lived the Scout Oath and Law. He believed in duty to others, helping many Scouts from Troop 240, and many other Troops, achieve Eagle. He was a loyal and true friend, who was always there for me, and any member of the Troop. He was always smiling when he was around the Troop and the Scouts. He supported Kevin, and inspired him to work hard, and to achieve Scouting's highest rank. I am grateful John lived to see his son become an Eagle, and I am grateful for having known John, and proud that he considered me a friend. Rest in Peace John. Until we meet again.

I will always remember John as a gentle and caring member of our family, always willing to help, dedicated to all of us in the Troop. For me personally, he was a constant ally on the Committee, tirelessly volunteering his time, and helping so many of our boys with their Eagle projects. He was a large reason my son Alex's Eagle project was a success.

He was also very dedicated to his own family. I recall several conversations we had when he recounted fondly how he enjoyed walking his daughter Clair to the train in the morning before school, and the wonderful "guys" vacation he spent with his son Kevin, tooling down a Pacific coast highway in a classy convertible.

He was a special man we were blessed to know and will be sorely missed by all of us,

Ellen Beltran

My prayers and condolences are for the Bachman family. Although, I did not know Mr. Bachman well, I have always taken notice of his son, Kevin Bachman. His character and leadership is outstanding. I attribute that to his parents. May God show you his grace and comfort during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Delores Jackson

John was an incredibly gracious and generous soul. Our hearts and prayers are with his family. John had a big heart and sense of humor that kept us grounded when we took ourselves too seriously. I am proud and privileged to have known him.

One of my favorite hymns says, "... and He will raise you up on eagles' wings, Bear you on the breathe of dawn; Make you to shine in the sun, and hold you in the palm of His hand." Surely, John is in God's hands and he was carried there on the wings of all the Troop 240 Eagles he has helped with an open heart and hand. Maurice and Connor are honored to be among those Eagles.
